This is 2012.
I've started doodling somewhat regularly, and I can genuinely say it's one of the few things keeping me sane currently.
On New Year's Day Luke and I joined his sister and brother-in-law for some vegan tofu Hollandaise, tempeh bacon, and a super, super delicious layered potato dish. Beverages included coffee, ginger beer, and guava water.. and I'm pretty sure artichoke dip was consumed in copious amounts following the brunch. Operation Binge-the-New-Year-in: success.
..but not all our meals have been successes.
Finally hit up Denver Beer Company post-bicycle ride one day. I can't wait for summer.
My fridge is ever-evolving, thanks to my talented and awesome friends.
Tawtully can't wait to start living in cut-offs and bike this winter weight off, dear god.
I unintentionally killed some Thai basil (a sad day indeed, as this herbslaughter resulted in our inability to make pho).
Each day this studio feels more like a nest. Now if I could just acquire some plants..

Highlights of some weeks, as well as some allusion to shifting priorities and potential upcoming adventures
2011 is nearing its end.. and I'm going to end that sentence with 'finally.' Metaphorically speaking (maybe? heh), I feel as if I've been spinning wildly since May and I've only just started to slow down enough to see where I've ended up. There are several things currently in need of remedy. One is obviously the debt which accrued whilst working for free awl summah.. and exploring an exciting new city with my totally awesome and wonderful boyfriend, Happy Hour. Ah, the lush-life. It is horribly unsustainable (and exhausting and really really bo-ring), yet so wonderfully medicating for a shallow puddle of time. Halloween marked the end of that particularly delicious downward spiral, and I am left with but a few flashbacks pieced together from sloppy stories told to me the following morning (which is one of the most painfully awkward situations I've managed to find myself in). I imagine they are all as good as making out with a fuzzy Mexitalian (there was a mullet..) in a very low-cut wrestling/bicycling uniform against a window, which happened to be a window of my place of employment, perhaps around bar close, while dressed as a cat lady (think: high waisted boxy-ass skirt to the calves, dull button-down shirt (which definitely came undone a bit more "accidentally" at some point), cat pin, cats pinned to me, awkward hair and pedophile glasses). Universe: 1. A: 0. The libations are kept to a minimum these days, and I've begun to remember how pleasant having a ho-made drink or two at home can be.
This is all far less outrageous than I make it seem, but if this were a teen magazine, it'd be rating it with five stars and telling me to skip town. You're welcome for this information, by the way, and stay tuned for more awkward stories in 'twelve because this is my blog and that shit's hilarious (and only a little bit sad, right?) and I don't give a fuh.
Without further adieu, a few photos from the last few blinks..

I really, really like this. It makes me think of film photography, and how I wish I partook more and experimented with legit double exposure. Perhaps in 2012 I'll find myself with some spare cash to put toward film development. Seriously though, this photo is like my favorite thing right now, out of everything there is, except red lentils with lemon and kittens in anime. Speaking of kittens, I still do not have any–not even one. I have decided to postpone indefinitely the housing of adorable fuzzy things until I am in the chapter I'm assuming will follow the Twenties, when–I'm also assuming–I'll be like an old, quiet cat, who doesn't care about all the beautiful males everywhere and lives in a cute house with big windows somewhere "in the mountains" with a bit of land because she has a real job doing something wonderful and can actually get by living in a space larger than a dormish studio apartment. You know, one of those kind of cats. That's when I'll get some cats.
After an awesome haul at the local Asian grocer, I couldn't help but follow up a great batch of miso soup with a nostalgic breakfast comprised of leftover tom yum soup, some natto and brown rice, and some steamed kabocha squash. I love natto, although I'm hesitant to attempt convincing my friends to try it after seeing me wrap strings of fermented what-have-you around the chopsticks and slurp up the sticky bean mess. My breakfast reading material this particular morning was Lucky Peach, which I've only recently happened upon and fallen for. Definitely check that out if you're into culinary journalism and all things awesome.
I'm still rockin' the studio sans furniture, so one day brunch was enjoyed on the floor, as some kind of ghetto fabulous indoor picnic. I feel like those plates haven't made a real appearance in a while. Tempeh 'bacon' is delicious, in case you hadn't heard. The 'omelets' from Vegan Brunch are a little weird though.. but now I have hickory salt in the spice cabinet, so there's that. Flavored salts are pretty exciting, if I'm honest. I really, really wish I had a kitchen table.
I have never coveted wallpaper this much in real life (I had to specify; there is some amazing wallpaper out there on the internet and I've definitely coveted the crap out of it). I love Pablo's for its lack of wi-fi (it's surprisingly refreshing), but am put off by its awkward-at-times seating and occasionally-too-loud tunes.
We got quite a bit of snow the other day. This is when I enjoy walking around the city most, although this time the snow was heavy and wet and there were calf-high puddles hiding at what I'll estimate at every single corner. I actually wish it would melt because I really, really want to ride my bike pretty much everywhere and stop being such an enormous toad of a woman. I probably weigh like 375 and that is grossly (see what I did?) unacceptable.
I've nearly filled my most recent sketchbook (thank goodness; it was inconveniently large and I began to resent it, an inanimate object) and am super excited to have this gorgeous little newbie. Hello, Colonel Mustard.
This dude is pretty good company and makes a decent partner in culinary projects, most of the time. You'll probably see him a bit around here, unless he wipes out again (please don't). When he wears the scarf I call him Sanjay. Guess why.
I have high hopes for 2012, and I definitely said that about 2011. This past year was pretty "insane" (I imagine a long-haired hippie saying 'whoaaa' slowly somewhere in the background when I use that word), what with the graduating-and-moving-away-forever-immediately-after thing. I have the usual "get in shape" and "drink more water" resolutions, but I think a few new ones will make the list this year. I'm going for simplicity this time around.
